Peer-review model: single-blind, with double-blind review available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally assessed by two to three independent reviewers, and the decision is taken by a handling editor. The full process, including the appeal procedure, is set out in the peer-review policy.
Manuscripts lacking the appropriate approvals are rejected irrespective of scientific merit.
A data-availability statement is mandatory for every research article.
Policy is aligned to COPE flowcharts.
Observed medians from published articles describe the historical record, not a service target; individual manuscripts may take longer.
The record

Before you submit
JBBS considers research across biotechnology and biomedical science, including microbial, environmental, industrial, plant, medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology; genomics, bioinformatics, cell and gene therapy, vaccines and synthetic biology; biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and nanobiotechnology; and biomedical engineering, biosensors, drug discovery, drug delivery and translational biomedical research. Detailed inclusion and exclusion criteria are set out in Aims and Scope, and manuscript categories and requirements in Instructions for Authors.
The peer-review model is single-blind, with double-blind review available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally assessed by two to three independent reviewers, and the decision is taken by a handling editor. Measured across all 38 articles published to date, the median time from submission to acceptance was 30.5 days (interquartile range 24–51) and from acceptance to publication 8 days (interquartile range 4–16). Those are observed medians for work already published, not a service commitment, and your manuscript may take longer.

Authors retain copyright. Every article is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0), so you may deposit the published version in any institutional or funder repository immediately, with no embargo.
Every JBBS article is registered with Crossref under the DOI prefix 10.14302/issn.2576-6694, and every submission is screened with Crossref Similarity Check. The journal holds a registered ISSN (2576-6694), is listed in WorldCat and is discoverable through Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, CORE and BASE. Those discovery services index content by crawling open metadata; inclusion in them does not imply evaluation or endorsement. JBBS is not currently listed in DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science or PubMed Central, and no Journal Impact Factor exists for it.
Human research requires IRB or ethics-committee approval and an informed-consent statement; animal research requires IACUC or equivalent approval and ARRIVE compliance; genetic and biosafety work requires biosafety-committee approval, a stated containment level and dual-use disclosure. A data-availability statement is mandatory for every research article, with omics data deposited in GEO, SRA, ArrayExpress, PRIDE or MetaboLights and structural data in the PDB, EMDB or BMRB before publication. Manuscripts lacking the appropriate approvals are rejected irrespective of scientific merit.
38 articles across 3 volumes and 10 issues, published between 2017 and 2026. Each article has a registered Crossref DOI and appears in the journal archive.
