The JDDD editorial board evaluates proposals based on topic relevance and timeliness, Guest Editor qualifications in gastroenterology research, feasibility of proposed timeline, potential for attracting high-quality digestive disease submissions, and alignment with journal scope. Decisions are typically communicated within four weeks. Successful proposals receive formal approval letters and dedicated editorial support throughout the special issue development process. Guest Editors work with JDDD staff to promote the call for papers and manage submissions.
Guest Editors lead the recruitment of contributors, manage the peer review process for submitted manuscripts, make editorial recommendations, and ensure timely completion of the special issue. JDDD provides training and ongoing support. Guest Editors should expect to dedicate approximately five to ten hours per month during the active collection period.
