Prepare Your Manuscript for Success
The Journal of Digestive Disorders and Diagnosis welcomes high-quality submissions from researchers worldwide in all areas of gastroenterology, hepatology, and digestive health sciences. These guidelines ensure that your manuscript meets our editorial standards and progresses efficiently through peer review. Following these instructions carefully will expedite the evaluation of your digestive disease research and optimize your chances of acceptance.
JDDD publishes original research articles, comprehensive reviews, case reports, and short communications addressing clinical, translational, and basic research in digestive disorders. All manuscripts undergo rigorous single-blind peer review by experts in gastroenterology, hepatology, and related specialties to ensure scientific quality, methodological rigor, and appropriate interpretation of results for the medical and research community.
Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format with standard formatting. Use twelve-point Times New Roman or Arial font throughout with double-spacing and one-inch margins. Number all pages consecutively and include line numbers to facilitate peer review. Structure your manuscript according to the appropriate article type guidelines described below.

Clinical trials must be registered in a public registry and include the registration number. Adherence to CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, or other relevant reporting guidelines is required for gastroenterology research.
Submit manuscripts through our online portal at ManuscriptZone. Prepare a cover letter introducing your digestive disease research, suggesting potential reviewers with expertise in your specialty area, and confirming that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere. Complete the submission checklist to ensure all components are included including declarations of author contributions, conflicts of interest, ethics approval, and data availability statements.
Initial editorial assessment evaluates scope, quality, and adherence to guidelines within one week. Manuscripts meeting criteria undergo single-blind peer review by gastroenterology experts with decision typically within two to four weeks. Authors receive detailed reviewer comments and editorial decision with opportunity to revise and respond to concerns. Revisions should address all reviewer comments with point-by-point responses. Authors should highlight changes in the revised manuscript to facilitate efficient re-review by gastroenterology evaluators.
Authors may submit supplementary files including additional figures, tables, datasets, videos, and detailed protocols that support the main manuscript findings. Supplementary materials undergo editorial review but not formal peer review. All supplementary files should be referenced in the main text with descriptive titles and legends. Video files should be submitted in standard formats compatible with web browsers. Large datasets may be deposited in appropriate public repositories with links provided in the data availability statement.
Manuscripts should be written in clear, grammatically correct English appropriate for an international audience of gastroenterology researchers and clinicians. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited before submission. JDDD members receive complimentary language editing services. Non-member authors may use our fee-based editing service or any professional editing provider of their choice. The journal reserves the right to request language editing if manuscript clarity is insufficient.
All manuscripts must include declarations confirming ethical compliance, conflicts of interest disclosure, funding acknowledgment, author contributions using CRediT taxonomy, and data availability statements. Authors must confirm that the work is original and has not been published elsewhere. Corresponding authors must confirm that all listed authors have approved the submitted version and agree to be accountable for their contributions. Ghost authorship and gift authorship are not permitted.
Upon acceptance, authors receive proofs for review within one week. Corrections should be limited to typographical errors and factual mistakes. Significant content changes are not permitted at proof stage. Authors confirm proofs within forty-eight hours. Articles are published online within one week of proof approval and payment confirmation. Authors receive PDF copies and can share published work according to the CC BY 4.0 license terms.
