Proposed Special Issue
Guidelines for proposing a special issue in Journal of Alzheimer's Research and Therapy (JALR).
Lead a focused collection that shapes Alzheimer's research
Special issues in JALR highlight priority themes, emerging methods, and collaborative initiatives in Alzheimer's disease and dementia research. We welcome proposals from experienced researchers, clinicians, and research consortia.
Well designed special issues can accelerate progress by convening high quality work around a shared scientific goal.
Proposals are welcome from senior researchers, clinical leaders, and multidisciplinary teams with demonstrated expertise. Guest editors should have an active publication record in the proposed topic and the capacity to manage peer review in collaboration with the journal.
Special issues may focus on cutting edge themes such as early detection and biomarkers, neuroimaging advances, genetic risk modeling, clinical trial design, digital health for dementia care, caregiver outcomes, or real world implementation studies. Interdisciplinary topics that connect neuroscience with public health or care delivery are strongly encouraged.

Scientific relevance
Alignment with the mission of Journal of Alzheimer's Research and Therapy and current research needs.
Novelty and impact
Potential to advance knowledge, clinical practice, or policy in Alzheimer's care.
Feasibility
Clear plan for solicitation, submission volume, and editorial oversight.
Proposals are reviewed by the editorial office and, when needed, by senior editors with domain expertise. We may request clarifications, adjustments to scope, or a revised timeline. Approval is based on topic relevance, editorial capacity, and expected contribution to the field.
Guest editors collaborate with the JALR editorial office to identify reviewers, manage peer review, and ensure ethical compliance. All submissions undergo standard peer review and final decisions are made by the journal editorial leadership.
Guest editors are expected to adhere to confidentiality, conflict of interest policies, and reporting standards throughout the process.
Special issues must meet the same ethical and scientific standards as regular issues. Guest editors should ensure that all manuscripts include ethics approvals, data availability statements, and conflict of interest disclosures where appropriate. JALR reserves the right to decline or remove manuscripts that do not meet quality expectations.
Once approved, the journal will provide a recommended timeline for invitations, submissions, peer review, and publication. Special issues are published online as articles are accepted, ensuring timely visibility.
JALR supports guest editors with submission tracking, peer review tools, and promotional guidance to maximize visibility across the Alzheimer's research community.
Note: Proposals that include a balanced mix of original research, reviews, and clinical perspectives are more likely to be approved.
