Call For Papers

Journal of Alzheimer's Research and Therapy (JALR) invites impactful submissions that advance care, discovery, and understanding of neurodegenerative disease.

Publish research that moves Alzheimer's science forward

JALR welcomes original research, systematic reviews, translational studies, and clinical insights that improve diagnosis, treatment, care pathways, and health policy for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Our editorial scope prioritizes scientific rigor, clinical relevance, and transparency so findings can be applied across research, clinical, and community settings.

We are especially interested in work that connects bench science with patient outcomes, accelerates therapeutic development, or improves real world care for patients and caregivers.

Replication studies and well explained negative results are also valued when they strengthen the evidence base and guide future trials.

Priority topics and themes

We consider a wide range of submissions that align with the mission of Journal of Alzheimer's Research and Therapy. Representative areas include, but are not limited to:

Biomarkers and early detection Neuroimaging and diagnostics Genetics and risk modeling Clinical trials and therapeutics Neuroinflammation and pathology Digital health and AI in dementia care Caregiver outcomes and quality of life Cognitive assessment tools Population and public health research

Interdisciplinary submissions are encouraged, including collaborations that connect neurology, geriatrics, psychology, nursing, health economics, and public health. We also welcome studies that evaluate real world implementation, care coordination, and community based interventions for patients and caregivers.

Article types welcomed

  • Single blind peer review prioritizes methodological quality and clinical relevance.
  • Structured metadata and DOI assignment support indexing and long term discoverability.
  • Responsive editorial communication and clear decision timelines support author planning.
  • Dedicated editorial focus on Alzheimer's research maximizes relevance for the right audience.
Special issue opportunities

JALR runs themed special issues to spotlight priority research areas or collaborative initiatives. We welcome proposals for special issues led by expert guest editors. Proposals should include a scope statement, proposed guest editor credentials, and a list of potential topics or invited contributors. Approved proposals receive editorial guidance and promotional support.

Submission pathway

Submissions are accepted year round. Authors should review the Instructions for Author before submitting to ensure proper formatting, ethical compliance, and reporting completeness.

Quick tip: Include a concise cover letter that explains the significance of your findings for Alzheimer's research and identifies the intended audience. Clear positioning improves editorial triage and reviewer selection.

Ethics and transparency

Journal of Alzheimer's Research and Therapy expects authors to follow established ethical standards for human and animal research, disclose conflicts of interest, and provide data availability statements. Clear reporting improves reproducibility and helps ensure that results can be validated and applied in clinical practice.

Author support

JALR supports authors through each step of the publishing journey with guidance on manuscript preparation, structured feedback during peer review, and responsive communication after acceptance. Our editorial team prioritizes clarity and consistency to help authors move from submission to publication efficiently.

What makes a strong submission

We look for studies that demonstrate methodological transparency and real world relevance. Manuscripts that perform well during editorial assessment typically share the following characteristics:

  • A clear research question linked to Alzheimer's disease mechanisms, diagnostics, treatment, or care delivery.
  • Appropriate study design with transparent inclusion criteria and statistical methods.
  • Results presented with sufficient detail for replication or secondary analysis.
  • Discussion that explains how findings affect clinical practice, caregiver outcomes, or future research.
  • Data availability and ethics statements that meet journal and funder expectations.
Review approach and timeline

Journal of Alzheimer's Research and Therapy uses a single blind peer review model. Reviewers know author identities so they can assess prior work and related studies, while author identities remain protected from reviewer disclosure. We strive for efficient decisions without sacrificing rigor.

Most manuscripts move through initial screening quickly, followed by detailed peer review. Authors receive structured revision guidance, and final decisions are based on scientific merit, methodological soundness, and relevance to the journal scope.

Visibility after publication

Published articles include structured metadata, DOI assignment, and open access distribution to maximize discoverability. JALR emphasizes clear titles, focused abstracts, and keyword precision to improve indexing performance and ensure the right audiences can locate your work quickly.
