Registration, discovery and indexing are three different things
A journal identifier registers the title. A digital object identifier registers each article and keeps it citable. A discovery service harvests openly available metadata so that a search finds the work. A selective bibliographic index evaluates a journal against published criteria and then decides whether to cover it. Only the last of those is indexing, and the four are routinely presented as though they were the same thing.
This page keeps them apart. Each entry below states the service, what IJSTD’s relationship to it actually is, and what that relationship does and does not establish. Where the status can be checked from outside the journal, the record that settles it is linked.

Journal identifier
ISSN International Centre
ISSN 2994-6743 is registered for the electronic edition of the journal through the US ISSN Center. An ISSN identifies a serial title and distinguishes it from every other title; it records no assessment of a journal and confers no indexing.

DOI registration
Crossref
Registered IJSTD articles carry a Crossref digital object identifier under the prefix 10.14302 and keep it permanently, so a citation resolves even if a web address changes. Crossref is a registration agency for persistent identifiers and reference metadata. DOI registration is not indexing.

Scholarly discovery
OpenAlex
The journal and its articles are represented in the OpenAlex open catalog of scholarly works, which builds its catalog from openly available metadata including Crossref deposits. A discovery service makes published work findable and links it to the citation graph. It applies no selection criteria to journals, so representation in it is not journal-level indexing.

Author identifiers
ORCID
Editors and authors are displayed with their ORCID iD wherever one has been supplied, and each iD links to the public registry record so a reader can open the same information the journal reads. ORCID identifies people rather than journals, and supplying an iD at submission keeps attribution accurate across a career.

Digital preservation
Portico
This journal’s content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.

Funder deposit
PubMed Central, through NIHMS
Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS). Deposit of an individual manuscript is an author and funder route. It does not indicate that IJSTD is indexed at the journal level in PubMed, MEDLINE or PubMed Central.

Journal identifiers and discovery
IJSTD is registered with the ISSN International Centre, registers article DOIs with Crossref and is represented in OpenAlex. ISSN identifies the journal, Crossref registers persistent identifiers and OpenAlex supports discovery of scholarly works. These services have distinct roles.
Selective databases assess a journal against published criteria that include editorial rigor, publication record and metadata quality. The journal states its position on those criteria on the pages that own them: the editorial policies page sets out review, ethics and integrity, and the archive lists the published record in full. The journal maintains the links to its identifier and discovery records above.

- A registered article carries a Crossref DOI under the prefix 10.14302 and keeps it, so citations of it continue to resolve.
- Your article is openly readable
- Every article is published open access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, and copyright is retained by the authors.
- Your metadata travels
- Deposited metadata is what discovery services harvest, which is why author names, affiliations and ORCID iDs are checked at production.
- Your NIH-funded manuscript has a deposit route
- Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through NIHMS.
