What the Journal Is Looking For
Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year. What makes a manuscript right for this journal is the relation it examines, not the field it comes from.
Depression alongside What You Studied It With
A manuscript belongs here when it carries a developed connection to depression, depressive symptoms or their treatment. That connection is judged substantively: work on a related condition, a shared mechanism or a therapy developed elsewhere is welcome when its bearing on depression is clear and worked out, and the word need not appear in the title.

How a Submission Will Be Judged
Two questions, asked independently: is the subject within the remit, and does the evidence support the claim being made.
Subject fit accommodates diverse designs. A single case, a qualitative study, a measurement paper, a replication, an evidence synthesis and a multi-site trial are each assessed using standards appropriate to their questions and contributions. There is no universal requirement for novelty, for a demonstrated mechanism, for a clinical benefit or for a particular sample size.
The evidence required is set by the claim. A study reporting an association is assessed as an association study; a manuscript claiming a causal effect, a predictive relationship, efficacy, or a use in clinical care is assessed against the design, sample and analysis such a claim needs, and is expected to state the limits of what it establishes.
Reporting follows the guideline that matches the design, and the preparation requirements are set out once, in the instructions for authors, rather than repeated here.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
