Biography

Dr. Loris Rizzello is a Team Leader at the Fondazione Istituto Nazionale Genetica Molecolare in Milano, Italy, specializing in nanotechnology for infectious diseases. He earned his PhD in Nanotechnology from the University of Salento and has been recognized with prestigious fellowships including the Newton International Fellowship from The Royal Society (2014–2015) and an EMBO short-term Fellowship (2017). His research focuses on nanomaterial interactions with biological systems, particularly in the context of infectious disease treatment, exemplified by his most-cited publication on shuttling mechanisms across the blood-brain barrier via tubule formation (2020, 80 citations). With over 21 indexed publications, Dr. Rizzello continues to contribute to the development of bio-nanomaterials for therapeutic applications.
