Overview
Soil science is the study of soils and their various properties. It is an important field of science as soils are essential for many processes involving plants, water, and the environment. Soil science includes the study of soil structure, chemistry, fertility, and productivity; the management of soils and the impacts of soils on animal and human health. It is also important for climate change mitigation, land management, and plant nutrition. Soil scientists use their knowledge to improve land use and agricultural productivity, mitigate environmental pollution, and protect natural resources.
