Overview
Food security is a term that refers to the availability of food and one's access to it. It is a measure of the availability of food and individuals' ability to access it. It involves the availability of food sources, both locally and globally, and access to those sources, including economic and physical access. Food security is important as it is essential to physical and mental health, growth, and development of individuals, and also to the societal and economic welfare of countries. Poor food security can lead to malnutrition, a lack of vital micronutrients, and impaired intellectual development. Food security is a major challenge facing many countries and has significant implications for global health and economic stability. Increasing global food availability and access, and reducing food loss, can help to enhance food security. A more secure food system can help to reduce poverty and improve health outcomes.
