Overview

Agriculture is the science and art of cultivating crops and maintaining domesticated animals for food, fiber, and other products. It is the primary means of providing sustenance to the world’s population, and its importance cannot be overstated. Agriculture is responsible for the production of essential food staples such as rice and wheat, as well as source materials that are used to produce clothing, building materials, and even fuel. Additionally, the development of farming techniques has enabled us to produce enough food to feed the growing population, while also providing important ecological services such as soil fertility and water conservation. Agriculture also plays a vital role in economic development, as it is a key component of global trade.
