Overview
RNA polymerase is an enzyme that allows for the transcription of genetic information from DNA into mRNA molecules. It is essential for the production of proteins in cells and for gene expression. It plays an important role in many cellular processes, including gene expression, DNA replication, and protein synthesis. It also plays a key role in the regulation of gene expression by controlling the rate of transcription. Furthermore, RNA polymerase has been used in biotechnology applications, such as in the development of DNA chips and in the production of recombinant proteins. This enzyme has also become an important target for drug discovery, as well as the development of gene therapies.
