Overview
Ulcers are sores, usually on the skin or on the lining of an organ, like the stomach. They can have many different causes, such as infection or trauma, depending on the location and type of ulcer. Ulcers can lead to complications such as bleeding, infection, and even cancer in some cases. Ulcer treatments involve antibiotics and other medications to reduce inflammation and infection, as well as lifestyle modifications, such as avoiding certain foods or medications that may worsen the ulcer. Proper family and home care is essential for the prevention and management of ulcers. Early diagnosis of ulcers and prompt treatment can help prevent serious complications, such as life-threatening bleeding or perforation.
