Focused collections bring together research around a defined question in women’s reproductive health under named scholarly leadership and the journal’s usual editorial safeguards.

Propose a Special Issue
Journal of Women’s Reproductive Health welcomes proposals for focused collections that address important questions in women’s reproductive health. Researchers with relevant expertise are invited to review the proposal requirements and contact the editorial office.
A complete collection record
Each approved call states its exact title, rationale and scope; named guest editor with affiliation and available ORCID iD; submission period; eligible article types; submission route; and approved issue-specific terms.
Special-issue governance
A thematic collection follows the same research-integrity and peer-review standards as a regular JWRH submission.
Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Independent review
Submissions undergo editorial screening and independent peer review. Invitation to a collection does not guarantee review, acceptance or publication.
Final decisions
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Charges
Unless a verified call states otherwise, the journal’s published APC policy applies. Payment does not influence peer review or acceptance.
Proposing a thematic collection
A proposal is considered only after the editorial office can verify the topic, leadership and practical publication plan.
- Working title and concise scholarly rationale.
- Defined scope within reproductive biology, fertility, pregnancy and maternal health, or gynecologic and sexual health across the lifespan, consistent with JWRH’s Aims and Scope. Collections may address basic or preclinical research, abortion care, lactation and breastfeeding, or related clinical, psychosocial and policy questions.
- Proposed guest editor names, affiliations and available ORCID iDs.
- Evidence of relevant subject expertise and disclosure of conflicts.
- Realistic submission period and expected article types.
- Plan for reviewer expertise matched to the subject, methods and research stage, with independent editorial oversight. Basic and preclinical contributions require explicit reproductive relevance, not demonstrated clinical benefit.
