Overview

GTPase signaling describes the pathways that regulate cell function and behavior. This is mediated through GTPases, small proteins found within the cell that act as molecular switches in signal transduction pathways. GTPases are involved in regulating diverse cellular processes, including gene expression, cell cycle progression, and vesicle trafficking. By modulating the downstream effector molecules, GTPases have fundamental roles in a wide range of biological processes, including cell growth, differentiation, migration, and apoptosis. The ability to control GTPase activity is an important factor in the development of treatments for a variety of diseases, including cancer, inflammation and neurological disorders.
