Overview

Germ cells are microscopic cells that contain the genetic material necessary to create other cells and organisms. They are the fundamental building blocks of life, responsible for passing genetic information from one generation to the next. Germ cells in males form sperm, while germ cells in females form eggs. The combination of a sperm and an egg creates the fertilized egg, which will then develop into an embryo, fetus, and eventually a baby. Germ cells are essential for reproduction and species survival.
