Overview

Cellular biochemistry and metabolism is the study of how cells and their biochemical components process, store, and use energy. It is a multidisciplinary science that combines knowledge from the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and physiology to understand how energy is used by cells to generate and maintain their structure, growth and function. This knowledge can be applied to health and disease, allowing us to develop treatments and therapies that target molecular pathways underlying disease. It is also important for understanding basic biology and can be used to create new biotechnologies that harness the power of cellular metabolic pathways for various applications, such as biofuels, medicines, and industrial processes.
