Overview
Cell Processes are the set of activities that a cell carries out to stay alive, grow, and reproduce. These activities include the exchange of energy and nutrients, the synthesis of new components, the maintenance of its internal environment, and the disposal of waste products. Cell processes are necessary for any living organism to survive and are found in living organisms ranging from bacteria to humans. As a result, understanding how cells process is essential for scientists to study the biology of living organisms. Cell processes are also necessary for the development of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical treatments. By studying cell processes, scientists can better understand the effect of outside factors like toxins, pathogens, and environmental changes on cells, thus improving human health.
