Overview

C-jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) are a family of proteins involved in a key signaling pathway known as the Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK) cascade. This cascade is important for many cellular functions, including cell growth and differentiation, stress response, and apoptosis. JNK signaling is crucial for proper regulation of gene expression and can be activated by a variety of external and internal stimuli, such as ultraviolet light, toxins, and cytokines. In response, JNK activates transcription factors that lead to the expression of specific target genes. Impaired JNK signaling can lead to neurological disorders and certain types of cancer.
