Overview
Aspartic acid is an amino acid and a building block of proteins in our bodies. Its importance lies in its role in the Krebs cycle, which is the process of creating energy from food. Not only does aspartic acid help create energy, but it also helps regulate processes in the body, such as hormone balance and nerve functions. Because of its importance, it can be found in many foods, such as meat, dairy, fish, eggs, and grains. Aspartic acid is often used in dietary supplements to help improve physical performance and to aid in weight loss. It is also used in many skin care and beauty products due to its antioxidant properties, which can help protect the skin from damage and inflammation.
