Overview
Fetal malformations are structural defects or abnormalities that can occur during pregnancy. They can range from minor deformities, such as cleft lip or palate, to major problems involving vital organs. Some deformities can be detected during pregnancy with a range of different diagnostic exams, such as ultrasound and MRI. Early diagnosis of fetal malformations can help to properly prepare for and manage the delivery, provide appropriate medical care, and help provide support for the family.
