Overview
CHO cells are Chinese Hamster Ovary cells that are used widely in research and biotechnology industries. They are derived from the reproductive cells of Chinese hamsters, making them an ideal model organism for studying human biology and diseases. Due to their wide use, CHO cells are one of the most well-studied cell lines in the world. They are incredibly versatile, making them useful for a variety of applications, such as expressing foreign genes, creating monoclonal antibodies, and creating cell-based therapies. Additionally, their high-level of genetic stability makes them excellent for production of therapeutic proteins and vaccines. In a nutshell, these CHO cells have proven to be an indispensible tool for advances in biomedical research and biotechnology.
